V: The Second Generation

Like many have already said on other sites, I was looking forward to reading this. I saw V when it was on TV the first time and I watched the TV series and I read all the books. So why would the guy that was responsible for creating all this go back and completely "retcon" everything after the first mini-series?
ALL of the elements he wanted to do for this book could have been done without resetting the storyline back to the original mini-series.
Yes, we wouldn't have Martin or Doctor Maxwell but you could have given us new characters to fill in the voids.
Speaking of Doc Maxwell, what happened to his daughters? They aren't even mentioned in this book and yes his daughter was pregnant with a Visitor child at the end of the original mini-series.
All in all if you have only seen the original mini-series then you might really enjoy this book.
However, anyone who reads this is like me and a fan of the original series so his resetting everything on us is lost!
There wasn't even an intro from the author to explain this...that would have been nice.
So I guess if there are any follow on books they pick up from here.
One thing I did REALLY enjoy about this book was the intro of the Half-breeds between the humans and the Visitors. I liked how the mixing of the DNA produced a new race. Not all superpowered like the Star Child was...but just half breeds, who were looked down on by society.
So...do you wanna read now?
